Physical therapy is designed to unlock, strengthen, and stretch muscles, joints, ligaments, and tendons. Many of these structures have been extremely tight for quite some time. Therefore, its is only natural to feel some discomfort during your sessions. On a scale of 1 to 10, you should experience, on average, a pain level of approximately 6. That is, you should be able to feel and perceive the discomfort, but it should dissipate significantly soon after the exercise.
If you feel stronger pain during your in-office or at-home exercises, or if you feel more than residual soreness afterward, let us know. We may need to adjust your treatment plan.
