Despite its name, tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis can happen to anyone who repetitively uses the elbow, wrist, and hand. It is caused by overuse of the “extensor” muscles of the forearm, is more common in men, and typically occurs between the ages of 30 and 50. Physical therapy uses a combination of manual techniques, ice and/or heat, and exercise to reduce pain, strengthen the muscles, and improve the range of motion. You will also learn new ways of using your muscles in your daily life to reduce the risk of reinjury.
